A couple of weeks ago while at work a woman sat beside me while I was reading. I work as a tutor in the school system, and the woman works in another field within the same school system. She was telling me how the company she works for were hiring behavioral counselors and if I was interested to give her my resume. I told her that my tutoring contract was not up but that I would think about it.
As she spoke to me about her job I quickly became aware that it was not something I desired. Though it was in line with my "field" and what I had majored in, I did not feel impressed to pursue it.
As the weeks went by I pondered the whole opportunity and if God was opening a door or not. I felt that He may have allowed the opportunity to come my way just to see if I was wise enough to trust the Holy Spirit's impressions about not pursuing it.
Today I was surfing the Internet when I came across an article describing my very experience. Read the article (click on the title of this post) and even reread it if necessary. It talks about distinguishing opportunities that God wants us to pursue vs. opportunities He wants us to decline. It even talks about coincidences and how we shouldn't always assume that they are His Voice.

Gratitude Journal
I've been reading about people keeping a Gratitude Journal. It is basically a journal where you write several things you are grateful for on a daily basis. It keeps you in a joyful and thankful mood especially when you feel you have reason to complain.

Testing God
Today I will like to blog on a topic that I feel is very important to the Body of Christ. It is about "Testing God". Lately I have heard two people discuss how they were trying to see if a situation was of God or not, and they discussed how they told God "If this is you then make 'such and such' happen". They exclaimed how the thing that they wanted to happen manifested so it "Must have been God". However, is this true?
I remember in my college days doing things of that nature. This was when I first came to Christ and I was really seeking God for a soul mate. Every time I would meet a guy I would tell God "If this is my soul mate then make 'such and such happen'". Sometimes I would ask God to cause the person to call me, or for me to see them on campus, etc. etc. Most of the time none of these things worked. When I asked God about it, I discovered that this practice of "testing God" was not biblical.
Actually, Jesus speaks against it in Matthew 4:5-7. This was when Satan came to Jesus to test him and basically said "If you are the Son of God then jump off of the edge of this temple". Jesus replied "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test".
So we know that it is a sin to "test God". I will continue to research this topic because I need more understanding on "testing God".
