In this portion of scripture, the Lord told Moses to send men out into Canaan (the Promised Land) in order to scout the area and bring back a report. When they came back Most of the men brought back an evil report stating how there were hostile giants in the land who make the children of Israel look like grasshoppers.
However, Joshua and Caleb brought back a good report and told the children of Israel that they could indeed take possession of the land. However, the evil report was so insidious that the children of Israel panicked and whelp before God.
Often in life we have situations that challenges us. These situations are meant as test to increase our faith, however, we often panic in fear. God told those men to scout out the land, He would not send them into a land that they couldn't possess. However, those men took their eyes off the big picture and allowed external factors such as size to strike fear in their hearts. We tend to do the same thing when "giant" situations come into our lives. We think we have to fight the problem on our own. However, beloved, we must not fight these battles for they belong to God. Our responsibility is to stand on and believe what the Lord has said.
