Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he said “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation? Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister,’ and didn’t she also say, ‘He is my brother’? I have done this with a clear conscious and with clean hands.” Then God said to him in the dream, ‘Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscious…” Genesis 20: 4-6
God dialogues with us through dreams
In this verse of scripture we see a dialogue between God and Abimelech occurring in the dream state. This is significant because there is a conversational exchange between the two of them. So dreaming even allows God to interact with us through dialogue. When we are sleep our bodies are at rest and the spiritual part of us is more in tune to God. We are not distracted with the busyness of the day. Neither does God have to content with doubt, fear, and unbelief that occur when He speaks to us while we are awake. Our mind does not have the dominant place and will not be as resistant to hearing what God is saying.
