People pleasing

Galatians 1:10 "For do I now persuade men, or God?  Or do I seek to please men?  For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ".

People-pleasing is a subject I want to discuss today. The Scripture above reminds us that we cannot make pleasing people our highest priority while also claiming to live fully for God. When the desires, expectations, and approval of others take precedence over God’s direction, people-pleasing can become a form of idolatry.

God has given each of us a specific role within the body of Christ. However, we can easily wander into the wrong territory when we allow other people to define our gifts, assignments, or purpose for us.

I remember a time when someone strongly encouraged me to learn how to play the piano. They believed that my long, thin “piano fingers” were a heavenly sign that I was destined to play.

However, I had no desire to play the piano, or any other musical instrument. I knew my fingers were thin because of genetics, not because they were a prophetic sign from the sky.

So, I respectfully declined.

That experience may seem small, but it taught me something important: other people can recognize a possibility in us without that possibility being our calling. Every suggestion does not require obedience, and every expectation does not deserve a yes.

We must learn to seek God’s direction for ourselves. Otherwise, we may spend years trying to fulfill a role that was never assigned to us simply because we did not want to disappoint someone.

Pleasing God sometimes requires us to say no to people—even well-meaning people. It requires us to know who we are, understand our gifts, and trust that God is fully capable of directing our steps.

Our purpose is not determined by someone else’s opinion. It is revealed through God’s wisdom, our genuine gifts, and the work He has placed in our hearts to do.

I’ve been browsing online more than three
hours nowadays, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours.
It’s lovely worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made
just right content as you probably did, the net will likely be
much more useful than ever before. Ahaa, its good discussion about this
post at this place at this weblog, I have read all that, so now
me also commenting here. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Safari.
I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to
do with web browser compatibility but I thought I'd post to let you know.
The style and design look great though! Hope
you get the problem fixed soon. Many thanks http://goodreads.com
