A mystery regarding Jacob's hip

A couple of nights ago I was having bible study over the phone with my sweetie and we were reading about when Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32: 22-32).  Well he explained that one of the reasons God may have decided to dislocate his hip was to cause Esau to have pity on Jacob.  Because if you remember Jacob feared for his life knowing that Esau had vowed to kill him (Genesis 27:41) because of how he tricked him out of his blessing. So with Jacob limping from his hip would cause Esau to pity him (because why attack someone who is already down).  As we were on the phone discussing, my sweetie also made me to see that since Jacob was cunning by nature, he was probably over exaggerating the limp and being very dramatic and making himself appear more hurt than what he was.   Just some food for thought.
