You Will reap what you Sow

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
—Galatians 6:7

People often believe they can continue doing wrong without facing any consequences. You may even know someone who appears to live dishonestly while going unpunished.

I think of drug kingpins who sell drugs for years, sometimes even decades, while appearing to live the good life. They may possess riches and wealth and continue for a long time without being caught. Then, when they least expect it, they and their associates are suddenly rounded up. The same people who once worked together may begin turning against one another, hoping to avoid lengthy prison sentences.

This is just one example of people eventually reaping what they have sown.

In the opening verse, Galatians warns us not to be deceived: we will reap what we sow. Because the harvest does not always appear immediately, people can begin to believe they are getting away with wrongdoing. Then, often when they least expect it, the consequences of their choices arrive.

However, the principle of sowing and reaping is not only about negative consequences. We can also sow seeds that produce beautiful things in our lives.

You may feel discouraged because you are going through a difficult season. Perhaps you are the friend who always seems able to connect others with wonderful relationship partners who eventually become their spouses, while you remain single. You may wonder when your own time will come.

Be encouraged. The love, support, and goodness you have sown into the lives of others have not been forgotten. Your own relationship can arrive in a way that is beautiful, extraordinary, and beyond what those around you expected.

The same principle can apply to a business. You may have started a business that is growing slowly. You have invested your time, money, creativity, and diligence into sustaining it. Continue tending the seeds you have planted and trust that your labor can produce a blessed harvest.

One day, your success may appear to others as though it happened overnight. However, you will know that it was years in the making. Every late night, small sale, difficult decision, and act of consistency helped prepare the way for that breakthrough.

Let us focus on sowing toward a blessed harvest.

When we sow love, kindness, compassion, mercy, and patience, we create opportunities for those same qualities to return to us when we need them most. When we remain consistent in prayer, we strengthen our faith and deepen our relationship with God. When we sow hard work, faithfulness, and integrity on the job, we build a reputation that can open doors to greater responsibility, recognition, and opportunity.

The principle of sowing and reaping touches every area of life. The seeds we plant through our words, choices, habits, and treatment of others all matter.

Let us therefore be intentional about what we sow, so that in due season, we may reap a bountiful harvest of good things.
