The Unchanging God

For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.  Malachi 3:6

In the above first God declares that because of His unchanging nature, He will not allow the sons of Jacob to be consumed.  The nation of Israel had a bad habit of following after other gods continuously and forsaking the Almighty.  However, because God made a covenant with the nation of Israel, they are not destroyed.  Though they continue to break the covenant, God never abandons it.  This is the mercy of God.

This helps us to cope in difficult times when we do not understand what God is doing in our lives.  Sometimes situations will come out of no where, blind siding us.  However, nothing takes God by surprise. He remains the same.   He is unchanging, unfailing, and we can trust Him.
