The Uncelebrated Yes

The Church often romanticizes redemption stories. Think about the testimonies we glorify,  sing about, and pass around: the prodigal son, the one who ran far and finally returned. But what about those who never left?

What about the ones who were raised in the church and remained—those who didn’t have a dramatic “coming to Christ” moment because they’ve been in Christ all along?

I remember wondering as a young adult, When did I officially get saved?

Yes, I was baptized at age 10, but the truth is, I’ve been serving Jesus my entire life.
Raised in a Christian household, I developed a love for the Bible at a young age.
That early passion for God’s Word became a steady anchor, carrying me through every season of life.

God Sees the First Yes

This quiet, steadfast obedience may be overlooked by people, but it is never overlooked by God.  Some of us have carried a willing heart since childhood—a deep desire to know Him more. And in response to that desire, He begins to set us apart.

Some of us answered the call the very first time we heard His voice.  We had the spiritual sensitivity to say “yes” early, and we meant it.

That early obedience protected us. It guided us to make wise decisions that didn't derail our destiny. It positioned us to set the tone, shift atmospheres, and carry weight in places where it is a challenge to stand.

But being set apart isn’t glamorous—it’s often lonely. People see the favor, the fruit, the stability, but they don’t always understand the sacrifice of obedience.

The Mockery and the Jealousy

And yes, this kind of obedience can attract jealousy.
You’ll be mocked by those who didn’t have the mentality or maturity to make wise choices when it mattered most.
They see what obedience preserved, and the weight of their poor decision making—and it stings.

But God sees the difference.
And you don’t have to shrink to be relatable.
You don’t have to apologize for making good choices in life.
