When Christians Use Prayer as a Form of Avoidance

Recently, I had to undergo a medical test that I was afraid to face. Instead of confronting my fear of the unknown, I found myself praying and hoping that somehow I wouldn't have to go through with it.

Thank God, everything turned out fine. However, the experience taught me something valuable about the relationship between faith, fear, and knowledge.

Sometimes, fear of the unknown can keep us trapped in a cycle of prayer, not because we lack faith, but because we are afraid to confront what we might discover.

We pray for answers while avoiding the very steps that could provide them. We ask God for reassurance while resisting the information that might bring us peace of mind.

But I learned that faith is not the refusal of information, especially when it concerns our health. Prayer does not eliminate the need for knowledge, and seeking answers does not mean we lack trust in God.

Sometimes, the very thing we are praying about requires us to take action.

Faith and knowledge are not enemies. We can trust God while asking questions, seeking medical advice, undergoing necessary tests, and making informed decisions.

Prayer can give us the courage to face the unknown, but it should never become a hiding place from the truth.
