Worrying about nothing....

I recently read an article that stated "85% of what we worry about never happens".  I have seen this nation in a state of panic in lieu of the Ebola virus.  I have to admit when I first heard the news of it scenes from the movie "Outbreak" began to flood my mind.

This is just one example of how worry can hold us captive and paralyze us with fear.  We often worry about death, sickness, barrenness, and other calamities that seem to fill the media circus.  However, what does the Bible say about worry?  The Word tells us to:

  •  "Be anxious for nothing"- Philippians 4:6
  • "Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7 and
  • "Which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" Matthew 6:27

Being worried does not change our circumstances for the better, it just demonstrates our lack of trust in God.  When we worry we have more faith in the negative than in the positive.  Worry robs us of our joy, peace, and dampens our quality of life.

So remember, the majority of the things we worry about never happens, so stop worrying and start thanking God for seeing another day.
