Come close to God

"Come close to God, and God will come close to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world." James 4:8.  Sin often separates us from God.  In the book of James,  God desires that we come close to Him so that He can likewise come close to us.  However, the sin in our lives keep us from God.  So God tells us to purify our hearts and turn back to Him.

Another reason why God may seem for is also in that verse.  It states that our loyalty is divided between God and the world.  Sometimes the cares of the world can keep us from the presence of God.  And when I say the "world" it is not something that is necessarily evil.  But the world can also mean the things we must do to survive on this Earth.  We can become caught up in our jobs, school, seeking friendships or relationships to the point where we put God last.
